I believe that almost all people have a fundamental, positive regard for the natural world.
This transcends political affiliation and is true for backpackers in the wilderness, as well as hunters and fishermen. In addition, people from all sectors of American life find it distressing to see forests destroyed by fires or insects, ocean waters befouled with plastics or algae, drinking water undrinkable, and air polluted. I also believe there is also a general recognition that human actions are responsible and we have been profligate in our abuse of the earth’s natural resources.
Maybe we can all agree that it’s time to clean it up.
